GRANT
OM Grant Presentation
With Sânziana Tarța
For one month, OM Choreographic Center offered a grant to the artist Sânziana Tarța for the artistic project Symphony of Freedom, which explores her personal research in response to the theme of the Dansens platform: memories and temporality.
"Symphony of Freedom is the result of a journey I began when my mother found a notebook in which my grandmother wrote both the lessons she taught in class (she was a primary school teacher) and an intimate diary. What I discovered there has been working inside me for 4 years. During this time, my grandfather published a memoir. There I discovered more things—precious information about my family.
The theme of freedom is one that has always concerned me and inhabited me. Freedom in movement, in thought, in expression. How much freedom do we grant ourselves and how much do we allow others to be free in our presence? How does a body move when limited from within? Limited by a way of thinking, of feeling.
A transgenerational inheritance that through this endeavor I try to analyze, understand, and accept. How much of my body still remembers my grandmother? How much of my voice still resembles hers? Sometimes, at the theatre, my voice seems to be her voice, my reactions seem to be hers.
Memories and temporality. Acts of remembering. Stories that long to be told and bodies that need to be released. For that, time is needed. And movement." – Sânziana Tarța
Cultural project co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. The project does not necessarily represent the position of the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. Project carried out with the support of the Cluj-Napoca City Hall and Local Council.

Sânziana Tarța is a multidisciplinary artist who combines theatre and movement, visual arts, and music. Born in Satu Mare, she began her artistic path in the field of fashion, graduating from the Fashion Faculty of the University of Arts in Bucharest. She later studied acting at UNATC “I.L. Caragiale,” where she obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
Since 2014 she has been an actress at the National Theatre in Cluj-Napoca, where she has collaborated with important directors such as László Bocsárdi, Alexandru Dabija, Gábor Tompa, and Ada Milea. In film, she has appeared in notable productions, including "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" by Cristian Mungiu.
She has received several awards since her student years and has gained recognition for her versatility and artistic depth. In parallel with her stage work, Sânziana explores drawing, musical composition, and arts education, serving as a trainer at the Ideo Ideis festival since 2011.
Concerned with the complexity of the artist’s profession and with expanding her own expressive language, Sânziana Tarța builds a coherent, poetic, and ever-transforming presence within the contemporary cultural landscape.
