From the very beginning, OM Choreographic Center set out to support young artists and to create a space where dance, sound, and visual arts meet - transforming creativity into movement, a movement that connects, questions, and becomes presence.
Launched in May, the OM Body & Space program brought together six international residencies, each featuring two artists, held between OM Choreographic Center in Cluj and L’Abri Genève, uniting twelve artists from Romania and France. In parallel, four contemporary dance workshops took place, dedicated both to professionals and to movement enthusiasts.
Throughout the residencies, the artists experimented, created, and explored the connection between body and space — through vulnerable gestures, unexpected encounters, and artistic explorations that shaped a new sensitivity of movement.
We close this chapter with a documentary video that gathers moments from the creative process — working methods, sources of inspiration, and much vulnerability and emotion.
Through this film, the story of OM Body & Space continues to live — beyond the frame, beyond time.
We thank the artists for their courage and dedication, the OM Choreographic Center team and partners for their support, and the audience for the openness with which they embraced this project and joined us at the end of each residency.

Sergiu Diță and Anca Stoica – founders of the artistic duo Platforma 13 – spent two weeks at OM Choreographic Center as part of a residency where they explored the process of solarisation as a starting point for a movement practice and reflection on identity. The two artists investigated how the body, much like an image suddenly exposed to light, is transformed through its contact with space – physical, social, cultural, or emotional. In this context, solarisation becomes a metaphor for becoming, contradiction, and the hidden dimensions of the self, offering a framework for questioning and expanding modes of self-representation.

The OM – Body and Space Open Call received over 20 applications from artists in Romania and France. We are proud of the artists who took on the challenge and surrounded us with creativity and enthusiasm. However, the decision was not easy, as the competition was very tight.
We received many valuable portfolios and discovered new artists, which makes us very happy. Alongside the two residencies consisting of one Romanian and one French artist each, we’ve decided to offer a special two-week residency to a duo of two Romanian artists.
We’re very much looking forward to meeting and hosting all six selected artists at OM Choreographic Center!

At the end of the selection process, two teams will be formed, each consisting of one French and one Romanian artist. Each duo will participate in a one-month residency at OM Choreographic Center in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, one residency taking place from August 15 – September 14 and the other one from September 15 – October 15.
The OM - Body & Space Residency Program aims to support contemporary choreographic creation and young artists, fostering experimental approaches and the development of choreographic exchanges between artists from the fields of dance, performance, visual arts, and contemporary music. This initiative connects cultural organizations from Romania, France, and Switzerland, while also promoting the international mobility of artists. The residencies are an initiative of OM Choreographic Center in Cluj-Napoca, one of the few independent spaces for contemporary artistic research and creation in Transylvania, known for its active, generative approach and its dialogue with the wider public.
In 2025, the program will invigorate the local artistic scene and create a safe space for professional development and artistic creation. By offering a supportive environment with financial backing, the residency program seeks to help grow the contemporary dance scene and cultural sector in Cluj-Napoca. Drawing inspiration from Georges Perec's "Species of Spaces and Other Pieces," the program encourages exploration of both the internal space of the body and its relationship with the urban space and architecture of Cluj-Napoca. The residency will also include workshops for both amateur adults and professional dancers, as well as informal presentations and performances, engaging with a broad public interested in contemporary artistic phenomena.
